Privacy policy

Best Decision Wheel (bestdecisionwheel.com) is run by Sumner Digital, LLC in Jacksonville, Florida. This page explains what the site collects when you visit, who else receives it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, ask us through the contact page.

The short version

The wheel itself collects nothing. You never type your question anywhere, and each spin is worked out in your browser.

Around the wheel, we use Google Analytics to learn how people use the site, and Google AdSense to show the ads that keep the wheel free. These services use cookies. If you write to us, we get your name, email address and message.

The wheel

You ask your question in your head or out loud. Nothing you think, say or spin is sent to us or stored. When you tap Spin, your browser’s own random number generator picks where the wheel stops.

Messages you send us

When you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and your message. The form sends them to Jeane Sumner’s email at Sumner Digital, which runs on Google Workspace. We use them only to reply to you. The site itself doesn’t keep a copy, and we don’t add you to any mailing list. Ask us and we’ll delete your message from our email.

How we measure the site

Google Analytics tells us which pages people visit, how they found the site, what kind of device and browser they use, and roughly where they are (country and city, worked out from the IP address). It uses cookies named _ga and _ga_DV0JM1096W. We keep Analytics data for 14 months. We also have Google Signals turned on, which adds reports on broad age and interest groups for visitors who are signed in to Google and allow ad personalization. We only ever see those as totals, never as individuals.

To stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits on any site, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Ads

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other ad companies working with Google use cookies to show you ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other sites. Those advertising cookies let Google and its partners pick ads for you from what you’ve browsed across the internet.

You can turn off personalized ads from Google in My Ad Center, and from many other ad companies at aboutads.info. You’ll still see ads, just not ones based on your browsing. Google explains how it uses information from sites like this one in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Visitors in Europe, the UK and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google’s consent message asks for your permission before personalized ads and analytics cookies are used. You can change your answer at any time through the privacy and cookie settings link that Google’s message adds to the page. We rely on your consent for ads and analytics, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and replying to messages you send us.

Share buttons

The share buttons link to Facebook, X, Pinterest, Reddit and LinkedIn. Nothing goes to those networks until you tap one. When you do, our site records which network, which page, the time and your IP address, so we can count shares. That record stays in our own database. Once you’re on the network’s site, its own privacy policy applies.

The companies that help run the site

WP Engine hosts the site. Like any web host, its servers log your IP address, browser and the pages you request, to keep the site running and secure.

Cloudflare sits in front of the site to block bots and speed up pages. It sets a cookie called __cf_bm that lasts 30 minutes and helps tell people from bots.

The site’s fonts are stored on our own web host, so loading them doesn’t involve Google.

Cookies

Besides the cookies named above, AdSense sets its own cookies once ads appear, and Google’s consent message stores your choice in a cookie if you’re in Europe, the UK or Switzerland. Most of these cookies last between 30 minutes and two years. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The wheel still works without them.

What we don’t do

There are no accounts to create and no payments to make, so we never ask for a password or card number. We don’t sell your name or email address, and we don’t send newsletters.

Children

This site is for a general audience and isn’t aimed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us a message, tell us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what we hold about you (contact form messages and share-click records), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] or write to us through the contact page. We’ll answer as soon as we can and within the time the law where you live allows.

If you’re in Europe, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to object to how we use your information, to ask us to limit it, to get a copy you can take elsewhere, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

If you live in a US state with its own privacy law, you can make the same requests, and you can turn off personalized ads at any time through the Google and aboutads.info links above.

Changes to this policy

When the site starts or stops collecting something, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
